Hey guys, I know this forum hasn't been active for a while but I occasionally check in to see if somethings happened so maybe other people do as well. Or maybe I'm just screaming into the void but either way, no harm no foul. Recently I've been thinking about the importance of the first few lines of a story and how they can leave a huge impression on a reader and how they often defeat me as a writer. A strong 90% of my stories don't make it past their third line and almost all the rest stumble and fall somewhere around the seventh as I hash and rehash trying to get everything right before eventually giving up. Does anyone else have this problem and if so do they have any advice or perhaps examples of kick-ass openings I can look at to try and get my head straight on with them?
Thanks in advance
